ISLAMABAD — The final post-mortem report of high-profile murder case of Dr Nimrita Kumari, final year student of Bibi Aseefa Dental College, Larkana, has finally been issued by the Woman Medico-Legal Officer (WMLO), Dr Amrita, of Chandka Medical College Hospital.

The report revealed that the deceased was subjected to rape before being murdered, according to Pakistan media.

Police Surgeon Dr Qarar Ahmed Abbasi said, that according to the final post-mortem report, the Larkana student was “murdered by strangulation after rape”, reported Dawn news.

“Final post-mortem report didn’t establish [the] initial theory of suicide,” Dr Abbasi said.

“The ligature marks also tally with the information. Such signs are produced either in strangulation or hanging and are to be ascertained through circumstantial evidence as corroborative at the crime scene by state investigation authorities,” the WMLO added, according to PPI.

The report states that a DNA test confirmed the presence of male DNA profile indicated from semen residue on the deceased’s clothes whereas a vaginal swab tested positive for a forced sexual act.

Dr Nimrita Kumari Chandani was found dead in mysterious circumstances in her hostel room on September 16, 2019. The Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana, had claimed at the very outset prior to police investigations that she committed suicide but this final autopsy report has exposed that Nimrita was actually raped and then murdered.

Dr Vishal, the deceased’s brother, had also claimed that his sister had been killed as she was neither depressed nor the sort who would end her own life. The claim has now been proved.

After massive protests across the province, Sindh Government had ordered judicial enquiry to find the truth which is being conducted by the District & Sessions Judge, Larkana, on the directions of the Sindh Government through Sindh High Court which is still underway.
