PATNA — The menace of mob-lynching continues unabated in different parts of the country. In yet another case a Dalit youth was bludgeoned to death by a mob on suspicion of theft in Bihar’s Nawada district, police said on Tuesday.
The victim, Rupan Manjhi, in his late 20s, was beaten to death with bamboo sticks, bricks and iron rods on Monday night in Lavarpura village.
Though Police managed to resue brutally beaten and unconscious man but since the injuries were so grave he could not be saved
“Police rescued brutally beaten and unconscious Manjhi from the clutches of the mob. However, he succumbed to injuries soon after reaching hospital,” Hisua Police Station Officer incharge Rajdeo Sao said.
According to police officials, a group of four men entered a house but after the family raised an alarm three of them fled while one was caught by the villagers and beaten to death.
Police have registered a case and an investigation is on.
In another recent incident, a 26-year-old Mohammed Farooq Khan was lynched on suspicion of bike theft attempt in the Tharoijam village in Imphal, capital city of Manipur on September 14.
