NEW DELHI — The comfortable 89-run impressive victory of Indian cricket team over Pakistan at the ongoing World Cup in England on Sunday was celebrated by all Indians in the country and abroad with all enthusiasm and joy.

Though due to political reasons, India does not have cricketing ties with Pakistan for quite a long period now, the only chance for both the arch-rivals to come face to face is only during the World Cup tournaments.

India extended their unbeaten World Cup run against Pakistan to seven matches after their victory via DLS method in Manchester.

The whole nation erupted in joy as India beat Pakistan on Sunday night and the overjoyed citizens came out of their homes to celebrate victory on roads.

The Indian cricket team earned lavish praises, not only from commoners but also from senior political leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah which took to Twitter to express their joy.

The Home Minister tweeted: “Another strike on Pakistan by team India and the result is the same. Congratulations to the entire team for this superb performance. Every Indian is feeling proud and celebrating this impressive win.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also praised Team India for an “amazing game”.

Other senior BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal and Kiren Rijiju, who is Minister of State (independent) for Sports, also tweeted congratulations.

The Congress also congratulated Team India for the thumping win over Pakistani team.

Congress tweeted in Hindi from its official handle:

“Congratulations team India for incomparable victory against Pakistan. You continuously made the country feel proud. Thank you!” tweet reads.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot also extended their wishes to team India.

Mr Gehlot while congratulating team India said, “You have given all Indians a moment of pride!”

The Aam Admi Party (AAP) called the Indian cricket team “unstoppable”.

 

“Congrats to Indian Cricket Team for a terrific performance and making the country proud. Pakistan lost but they surely made Twitter more entertaining with their self-deprecating humour,” former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti tweeted.
