MEWAT, HARYANA — Khudai Khidmatgar has been working relentlessly towards women empowerment and now their work is developing in the Mewat region of Haryana. Mewat although is barely 60 kms away from Gurgaon, the millennium city, it has the lowest literacy rate for women in the state, it stands abysmally low at 33.6 per cent.

The Haryana Khudai Khidmatgar unit opened its first Bibi Amtussalam Mahila Vocational Center on March 15. National team member Tahseen Ahmed and Mewat Khudai Khidmatgar member Farmeena inaugurated the centre in the presence of national and Haryana members and leaders of Khudai Khidmatgar,

On the occasion Khudai Khidmatgar leader Faisal Khan said that Bibi Amtus-Salam, was one of those, who gave everything to this nation yet no one knows about her or talks about her. She was the one who was with Mahatma Gandhi in Noakhali in 1946 when worst riots took place in Bengal and Gandhi went on fast unto death to bring peace. Gandhi treated her like her own daughter.

Bibi Amtus-Salam established Kasturba Seva Mandir and other Khadi institutions in Rajpura town where she helped Hindu migrants from Bahawalpur, Pakistan to settle down, he said.

Constructive work will make our struggles more effective. Without constructive work, struggle is not sustainable and real beauty lies in our struggle. This center will be center for peace and mass mobilization and promotion of unity in diversity.

The women from the region have been looking for social and economic upliftment  for a long time. But the scarcity of the resources was a big hindrance in achieving the objective. Khudai Khidmatgar realized the challenges women are facing and decided to open a Stitching/Sewing Centre for Women in the region.

Khudai Khidmatgar hopes that this center will empower women of the region economically and socially. The Centre will be managed by the women of the locality.  With the establishment of the Beebi Amtussalam Sewing Center in the region  new frontiers are opened for women to become active members of the society and to play vital role in education, economic, political and social spheres. The efforts of Khudai Khidmatgar in Mewat are being appreciated by local populace.
