BULANDSHAHR, UTTAR PRADESH — “My father wanted me to be a good citizen who doesn’t incite violence in society in the name of religion. Today my father lost his life in this Hindu-Muslim dispute, tomorrow whose father will lose his life?” asks Abhishek Kumar Singh, a son of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh who was killed during a mob violence by right wing members over alleged cow slaughter in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr on Monday.

Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh of Syana police died on duty trying to control the mob of certain right wing groups who had blocked the road to protest alleged cow slaughter and pelted stones on police officials. He sustained fatal head injuries by stones and also a bullet hit him in the head. Post mortem report confirmed the reason of death due to bullet shot and injuries caused by stones.

Uttar Pradesh police on Tuesday have booked right wing outfit Bajrang Dal’s district head of Bulandshahr as the main accused along with some members of BJP, VHP and Shiv Sena among 27 for the mob violence. In the FIR registered by the police 60 unnamed people also mentioned, while 2 out of 27 named have been arrested so far. A SIT (Special Investigating Team) has been constituted under IG range Meerut to probe into the entire gamut of issues about the incident.

Mourning the death of Subodh Kumar Singh his famiy members blamed the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of playing cow politics to increase hiatus between Hindu and Muslim communities which took life of their beloved gaurdian.

“My brother was investigating Akhlaq case & that is why he was killed, its a conspiracy by the Police. He should be declared martyr and memorial should be built. We do not want money. CM only keeps saying cow cow cow,” sister of Inspector Subodh Kumar quoted as saying by ANI.

UP government has announced that Rs40 lakh would be given to his wige and Ra10 lakh to his parents and assurance from the chief minister that strict action will be taken against the guilty.

Inspector Subodh Kumar had investigated the mob lynching case of Mohammad Akhlaq  over rumor of beef consumption at his home in Noida’s dadri village during a certain period from Sept 28, 2015 till Nov 9, 2015.

After the mob violence that created tension in the region, Tweeter ia abuzz with people questioning CM Yogi for the deteriorating Law & Order situation in Uttar Pradesh while he is busy in election campaign in the poll bound states.

The main Opposition Congress hit out at the UP chief minister, saying he should first set his own house in order before “gallivanting” around the country for election campaign.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Tuesday blamed the Uttar Pradesh government for the violence in Bulandshahr saying the “lawlessness” in the state was a result of its “faulty and wrong policies”.

Also Uttar Pradesh Minister, Om Prakash Rajbhar, member of Bharatiya Samaj Party and MLA  from Zahoorabad constituency of Ghazipur accused right wing groups to disturb communal harmony as pre-planned.

Regarding social media rumours about the incident, intended to harm the communal harmony further to to vitiate the atmosphere, Bulandshahr police has cleared that the mob violence has nothing to with Ijtima and appealed to the people to not to heed such messages.

The 3-day annual ijtima of Tablighi jamaat was organised in Dariyapur village which was concluded on Monday. Dariyapur is 156.8 km away from Syana town where mob violence took place.
