The goon gets his shameless act recorded on mobile and circulates the video on social media. He was later arrested by the police
JAIPUR: Exactly two months after a young Muslim laborer from West Bengal was hacked to death and his body set on fire on camera in Rajasthan’s Rajsamand district, an elderly Muslim was mercilessly thrashed by a teen and asked to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in Sirohi district in the state. The attacker was later arrested by the police.
In the three-minute video the elderly man identified as Mohammad Salim was slapped at least 25 times by the youth. After every slap, he asks the man to say ‘Jai Shri Ram’. The goon, who identifies himself as Vinay Kumar Meena in the video, is seen holding the elderly man by beard and thrashing him.
Sometimes during the assault, the victim utters something in low voice which is not comprehensible but what he says very loudly is Parvardigaar sabse bada hai (Allah Is Great).
The incident took place around 30 kms from the tourist place Mount Abu in the night of 5th February this year. Local Muslims lodged an FIR with the police next day and the youth was arrested.
On 6th December 2017, two months before this incident, Bengal laborer Mohammad Afrazul was brutally hacked to death and his body set on fire on camera by one Shambhu Lal Regar in Rajasmand district. Earlier that year, several incidents of violent hatred against Muslims were reported from Rajasthan. In April, dairy farmer Pahlu Khan was lynched by a brutal gang of alleged cow vigilantes in Alwar district. In November, cattle trader Ummar Khan was shot dead by a similar gang in the same district.
