No arrests have been made so far and case has been registered against unidentified assailants.
BIJNOR — A 22- year-old imam of a mosque in Paranpur Nangla under Noorpur police station in district Bijnore of Uttar Pradesh, was killed on Saturday night by some unidentified people. There was no apparent reason behind the inhuman murder which has shocked the whole area and created tension in the region, reported Inquilab Urdu daily.
The assailants first hit the young imam on the head with some pointed iron rod and then strangled him with a piece of cloth, according to Inquilab Urdu daily.
According to reports, the deceased Qari Noor Hasan was a resident of Mauza Bera Sadat, PS Noorpur and had been doing his duties as an imam in Paranpur Nangla village for the last two years.
Although senior police officials from Bijnore Ameesh Kumar, Police Captain from Chandpur Rakesh Kumar, Police chief of Noorpur Saman Kumar Singh along with the Special Branch team visited the spot to look for the killers and assess the situation, no arrests have been made so far.
The body has been sent for postmortem.
Police have registered a case on the written complaint of imam’s brother Alamgeer against unidentified assailants.
Samajwadi Party MLA Naeemul Hasan and Paranpur Nangla Pradhan also visited the spot and consoled the bereaved family of the slain imam.
The family members of the imam are in a state of shock and helplessness and are finding it hard to believe that Qari Noor Hasan is no more.
The imam got married last year in February.
