JNU Elections: As ABVP Trails, Fear Of Violence Deepens At Campus

NEW DELHI – After around six hours of counting (by the time of publication of this story), saffron student outfit ABVP was trailing on all top three posts of students union at the Jawaharlal Nehru University and combined candidates of the Left alliance were leading.

Meanwhile, various posts on social media indicate that in the case of defeat of the student wing of BJP/RSS combine, there could be violence at the campus. The counting of votes was suspended Friday night following attempts by some students allegedly affiliated to ABVP to snatch ballot boxes from the strong room.

President: Left Unity – 125 , ABVP – 112

Vice President: Left Unity – 144 , ABVP – 107

General Secretary: Left Unity – 147 , ABVP – 133

Joint Secretary: ABVP – 134 , Left Unity – 123
