‘Interfaith Couple’ Beaten By ‘DSP’ Inside Railway Police Station in UP, Probe Ordered

LUCKNOW — In another shocking incident of custodial beating of an interfaith couple in Uttar Pradesh, a couple was beaten allegedly by a Deputy Superintendent of Police in Saharanpur district of the state.

The video of the incident, reportedly occurred on 12th October, has now gone viral on social media. The DSP posted at Government Railway Police, Saharanpur has been identified in media reports as Ashok Kumar Dixit. He is said to have retired on 31st October.

ADG (Railways) Sanjay Singhal has reportedly ordered probe into the incident. “A probe to be conducted by SP, GRP Moradabad, has been ordered into the incident. The officer under question has retired on October 31. A thorough probe will be carried out and anyone found guilty will be brought to justice,” Singhal was quoted as saying by Times of India.

In the video, the police officer is seen and heard throwing filthy abuses at the couple.

In September this year, a young woman was assaulted and abused inside a police van for allegedly choosing a Muslim partner. All the four cops were suspended after the video went viral.
